Research at Samvaya

Growth with evidence and discipline.

A promising business is the beginning of the research. GRIP brings four questions together to examine its growth, opportunity, timing and price.

How we research

Every stage has a question to answer.

Each stage is assessed on its own evidence. Strong growth cannot make up for a limited runway, uncertain timing or a price that assumes too much.

G

01 / Business

Growth

How fast is the business growing?

Understand what is driving revenue and earnings, whether growth is repeatable, and whether reported profits translate into cash.

Evidence we look for
  • Revenue and profit trends, with the drivers behind them.
  • Margins, cash conversion and capital required to grow.
  • Customer concentration, repeat demand and execution.

What could change the view: growth that relies on one-off gains or rising cash strain.

R

02 / Opportunity

Runway

How big is the opportunity?

Assess how much room the business has to expand, and whether its capabilities, competitive position and resources can support that opportunity.

Evidence we look for
  • Addressable demand and the company’s current reach.
  • New products, customers, markets and capacity.
  • Competitive advantages and constraints on expansion.

What could change the view: a large market with little evidence the company can capture it.

I

03 / Timing

Inflection

Is it the right time to invest?

Look for evidence that the business is entering a meaningful new phase. Assess operating progress alongside price, volume and relative strength.

Evidence we look for
  • Capacity coming onstream or orders turning into revenue.
  • Changes in margins, cash generation or business mix.
  • Price and volume behaviour, and relative strength.

What could change the view: a catalyst that stays a promise, or market behaviour that fails to confirm it.

P

04 / Price

Positioning

Am I paying a fair price?

Compare the price with realistic expectations for the business. Consider what is already priced in and what happens if growth or execution disappoints.

Evidence we look for
  • Valuation in the context of growth, quality and peers.
  • The expectations embedded in today’s price.
  • Alternative outcomes and the downside if assumptions fail.

What could change the view: a price that needs near-perfect execution to make sense.

A company should clear every stage independently. When the evidence is incomplete, waiting is a valid decision.

Evidence into judgment

The reasoning matters.

The value of research lies in connecting the evidence, testing the assumptions and knowing what would change the conclusion.

01

Start with the source

Company filings, financial statements, investor presentations and management commentary form the evidence base.

02

Test the explanation

Separate reported facts from estimates. Compare management’s narrative with delivery, cash flows and industry context.

03

Keep the view revisable

State the assumptions, risks and questions that remain. Revisit the thesis when business evidence or market behaviour changes.

A considered approach

Conviction should have reasons behind it.

GRIP makes those reasons explicit: what is growing, how far it can go, why the timing matters and whether the price makes sense.
